JD’s Woodshop — Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Do you take custom orders?

Yes. Custom work is a major part of what we do — from single pieces to full builds. You can send measurements, inspiration photos, or a rough idea and we’ll design it with you.

How do I start a custom project?

Just contact us through the website, Facebook, or email. Tell us what you’re looking for, and we’ll confirm details, pricing, and timeline.

How long does a custom order take?

Most custom projects take 1–3 weeks, depending on size, materials, and workload. Larger builds may take longer, and CNC jobs are usually faster.

Do you require a deposit?

Yes. Custom orders require a 50% deposit before work begins. This secures materials and your spot in the build schedule.

Do you ship?

Yes. Smaller items can be shipped anywhere in the U.S. Larger furniture pieces may require freight shipping or local pickup.

Do you offer local pickup?

Absolutely. Pickup is available in Alabama. We’ll schedule a time once your order is complete.

What types of wood do you use?

We commonly use cypress, walnut, cedar, pine, and other hardwoods depending on the project. If you have a preference, we can source it.

Do you offer CNC cutting or engraving?

Yes. We offer CNC services for:

  • Repeated parts

  • Templates and jigs

  • Engraved logos

  • Precision‑cut components

  • Small‑batch production

Can you match a photo or design I found online?

Yes — as long as it’s not a copyrighted design. We can build something inspired by your photo or adjust it to fit your space.

Do you stain or finish the wood?

Yes. We offer oil finishes, beeswax/butter blends, clear coats, and outdoor‑safe finishes depending on the project.

What payment methods do you accept?

Cash, card, and online payment options depending on the order.

What if I need a rush order?

Message us. If the schedule allows, we can sometimes take rush jobs for an additional fee.
